Key Characteristics
Fruit Profile: It produces medium to large fruits, typically weighing between 0.75 and 1.5 pounds. The skin is a bright pinkish-red, and the flesh is a striking light purple or magenta.
Flavor: Renowned for its exceptional sweetness, it often has a Brix score of 18 or higher. The taste is frequently compared to grape soda or a blend of kiwi and strawberry.
Pollination: This variety is self-sterile, meaning it requires cross-pollination from another variety (usually a red-fleshed type) to set fruit effectively.
Blooms: It produces massive, nocturnal white flowers that can exceed 14 inches in diameter and bloom throughout the summer.
Growing & Care
Vigor: It is an aggressive grower with thick, three-sided stems. Because it grows so fast, it requires regular pruning to prevent overcrowding and maintain fruit production.
Sunlight: Thrives in full sun but needs protection with shade cloth if temperatures exceed 95°F to prevent sunburn.
Climate: Best suited for USDA Zones 9b–11. It has slightly better tolerance for heat and cold compared to some other hybrids.
