Fruiting Japanese apricot trees are treasured for their winter blooms, and Koume Apricot Tree is one of the showiest cultivars. From late January to early February, pink, semi-double flowers cover the tree—and their spicy fragrance is a delight. The trees produce edible fruits, up to 1 inch in diameter, that ripen in mid-May and are used primarily for pickling and juice. For fresh eating flavor, we recommend choosing another apricot variety. Growing up to 20 ft. tall, the trees require 400 chill hours and another Japanese apricot for pollination. Zones 7-9.
