Vernon was selected in Vista, California by Wells Miller in 1953. It was actually a mature tree that Miller had found and may in time prove to be another, older cv. Vernon is a large, vigorous tree with a rounded canopy. Performs well in colder climates. The tree is alternate bearing with fruit ripening over the winter months. Vernon fruit are green, round and oblate (squat). The fruit has white flesh white and doesn’t become bitter when over-ripe.
